Success at the 8th edition of (GCIEPO) in Nairobi Kenya
Our students who participated in the 8th edition of Golden Climate International Environment Project Olympiad in Nairobi Kenya that held between April 6-9th clinched 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals among its counterparts that represented 19 countries of the world with over 200 projects.
Golden Climate International Environment Project Olympiad (GCIEPO) is one of the biggest science project competitions for primary and secondary (high) schools in East Africa organized and hosted in Kenya annually by Light Academy Schools.
As a school, we subscribe to environmental sustainability and hence, encourage our students on activities, like this competition which aims at promoting a global understanding of environmental issues and the achievement of sustainability, while also providing challenges and opportunities for students to instill in them the skills and knowledge needed to be the leaders, scientists, and engineers of the future, agents who will promote and contribute to greater environmental sustainability throughout the rest of their lives.
Cultural day event was organized on the second day of the competition and it was a feast of myriads of colours as various tribes and cultures exhibited their colourful cultures. Our students were not left out as our students participated representing various Nigerian cultures and tribes.
Our students and their accompanying teachers used the opportunity to explore Kenya on a city tour to view Kenya’s classic safaris, the city’s dramatic extremes and classic contrast, the open plains, the metropolis of Nairobi, the colourful tribal cultures and fresh water lakes, the wild life safaris, the scenery and all the attractions that made their three day trip to Kenya a memorable one.
